Camp Info

From Novice to Expert

At Pack 308, camping is an exciting and essential part of the Cub Scout program. Each year, our Cub Scouts have the opportunity to participate in up to four campouts at a variety of locations β€” from local Scouts BSA camps and Florida State Parks to unique destinations such as Lion Country Safari. Whether your Cub Scout is new to camping or has already enjoyed the outdoors, this guide will provide helpful information to make every trip safe, fun, and memorable.

Some campgrounds do not allow vehicles at the campsites, so families should be prepared to carry all necessary gear from the parking area to the campsite. For this reason, we recommend packing only what can be comfortably carried. Traveling light not only makes setup and breakdown faster but also encourages Cub Scouts to develop responsibility and self-reliance.

When it comes to meals, Cub Scouts in Pack 308 enjoy food provided by the Pack, which is carefully planned for nutrition and ease of preparation. Personal snacks and meals are generally discouraged to simplify logistics and ensure that all scouts share in the group experience. Be sure to communicate any dietary restrictions in advance so the Pack can accommodate them.

Essential items to bring include a tent, sleeping bag, appropriate clothing for the weather, and sturdy footwear. Personal hygiene items and a flashlight are also recommended. Beyond gear, safety and preparation are critical: Cub Scouts should know basic campsite rules, respect nature, and follow Leave No Trace principles. A first-aid kit and knowledge of emergency procedures should always be accessible.

Camping with Pack 308 offers more than outdoor fun β€” it’s an opportunity for Cub Scouts to build teamwork, leadership, and confidence. From hiking and nature exploration to campfire programs, games, and Cub Scout achievements, every activity is designed to teach new skills while creating lasting memories. Parents and family members are encouraged to participate alongside their Cub Scouts, helping guide and support them through each adventure.
